Flareside tailgate

Does anyone know if these are being reproduced or available through aftermarket sources? I need one but can't find one for my '92

Thanks

F2TZ8340700A .. Flareside Tailgate / Obsolete

PIONEER MOTOR CO. in Trinidad CO has ONE.

KARLSON MOTORS in Ketchikan AK has ONE = 907-225-9022.

No other Ford Dealer, no obsolete parts vendor has any.

If you can't get one of those OEM ones, try NPD or LMC or Ebay. I would think they are reproduced by aftermarket companies.

What about JCW. They have body parts for Ford trucks.

LMC does not offer it, see post #8.

I found two NOS (New Old Stock) Gen-u-ine Ford originals...see post #6.

I would go with the NOS tailgate if you are able to get it. They are made much better than the aftermarket replacement ones. I still think its odd that the flareside gate doesn't seem to be available in aftermarket form.

I'd call the dealer in Alaska first, there's prolly next to no demand for it there, so the price should be less.

Since the tailgate is obsolete, can no longer be returned to Ford, the dealers are STUCK with it.

Why has no one reproduced it?

Prolly because there is little demand...as not too many of these Flaresides were sold compared to Stylesides.

Thanks for the info, Bill. I just may call Alaska, but I'll bet the shipping costs from Alaska to Connecticut may put the tailgate on the unobtainium list. It's conceivable that the part will cost more than I paid for the truck

I figured the shipping costs when I said that.

The reason I suggested calling Alaska first is:

The original MSRP was...are you ready for this? $865.57! I kid you not.

Dealer net was $579.93.

I figured the dealer in Alaska would be glad to be rid of it, considering the demand in Ketchikan is prolly slim and none, and would sell it for well below his cost.

The dealer in CO might do the same thing, might not.
