New to this site, lots of good info. I've read a few posts that might to apply to me , but I thought I might throw this out there. I have a 94' F-150 w/ the AOD. I get a rumble when and only when the tranny shifts into O/D. Sounds like I drove over rumble strips on the road. The funny thing is it only happens during the shifting process. Other than that the tranny runs perfectly. Fluid level and all has been checked and is good. It also is more noticeable when the tranny has warmed up. Any ideas?
my truck's aod did something very similar, and i believe I've read a few posts on hear of other people having the same problem. I'd have the TV preasure checked. Some of the TV cables used on the AOD have a self adujusting procedure, but I've been told the only way to get it right is with a preasure gauge.
i have the same truck f150 5.0 aod tranny but mine does it
more when its cold. i locked out 4th gear and it seams like a
torque converter lock out on mine heve u tried to lock out 4th gear on yours?
i have the tranny fluid changed incluiding the torque converter
and i still have the same porblem.
i all so put in a bottle of lube gurd
but i have no luck so fare.
well i read my p.o.s. chiltens book after i replied
to your message.
my 94 f150 has a AODE tranny and no tv cable to the
tranny it goes to a electronic box so i called 4 tranny
shops to pick some brain i all ready new it might be a toqure
converter and the frist place i called said that frist thing
so i moved on and 2 of the next three i called put there
builder on the phone they spent about 10 min with me
and would of spent more time talking to but i ended the
calls knowing that there time is valable.
this is what i found out frist you need to make sure
that you have a AODE OR A4ODE if you have a A4ODE there is
a bunch of up grades that ford recamended for that trans
but what i was told by the 2 builders is that that bouth
trannys are vary senative to the performense of the engine
and if it is running just a little ruff you will get
this problem plus a full flush is a good idea
well i have done the flush about a month ago and put in lube
gard so after the turkey and fixens this weekend i will
put in plugs wires rotor and cap.
there is all so another additive called doctor tranny
shudder stop bouth shops sujested that i try that all so
oh ck out bulkparts.com i found this from a post in this forum
good luck let me now how you make out.

94 f150 xlt 5.0 that cooks
My father's '95 F 150 2wd had the exact same problem you are having now. It shuttered as it went into overdrive. We thought it could be many things, torque convertor, engine's computer management, tranny getting ready to puke, but as it turned out it was just an easy fix.
You will have to remove the tranny's oil pan, good time to change oil & filter anyhow. The bolts that hold the valve body to the transmission just needed to be re-torqued to factory specs. The transmission fluid leaks between the loose valve body and the tranny's main body causing irregular shifts and could cause premature transmission failure due to slippage. That was it. I don't know what the torque figures are for the valve body bolts, but I'm sure a "Haynes or Chilton" manual will have them.
I hope this helps in any way.
