Has anyone converted their excursion to a dually ? I have been looking at these adapters for a while now.

Biggest issue is the wheel flare and how it has to go over the back door as well. I've seen a few but the flares were totally custom...and expensive looking.

I agree. Dually trucks can use a fifth wheel for trailers, and with a four door truck you have almost as much interior room. My opinion.

I disagree with the "almost as much interior room as a 4 door truck". I bought my Excursion to haul 6 people comfortably and pull a 21' travel trailer 5000 miles. That just was not possible with my 4 door cab truck, especially the "6 people comfortably" part. I could possibly see a dually X being a little more stable with a large trailer.

I also just brought this up with some people who came to talk to me about my 59 and the excursion conversation turned to making it a dually and just for the hell of it cutting away roof line from back seat back and making it to where I can haul a goose neck horse trailer.
They said it would be fun project. So we are contemplating cutting into it. The dually we pondered but it got a negative.

Thats my reason right there. I have load range E tires now and it tow pretty good but my toy hauler has a heavy tongue weight when I don't have toy in the back to balence it out.

It would just be more stable.

Here is the closest thing I have found to a dually X.

Click on the picture to make it bigger.

I also found this place that actually makes dually fenders for excursions!!! They have some nice pictures!!

http://www.duallyfendersusa.com/

They even have 4 different styles and start at $695.00!!

Come on now... I'm sure we've all seen mods done to vehicles that really make no sense... but that's what makes the mods so interesting.

Heck, I think it'll look "bitchin" if done right. That's reason enough.

HEY KEN... Your new sig has me falling off my chair.

There was a company that did conversions on Suburbans in the 80's / 90's. I just happened to see one at a dealer 2 wks ago. I'll see if it's still there for the company name - they had a badge on the truck.
Check out the pics on this page. 2004 Excursion 3/4 down the page

Why do you guys keep saying there is no purpose ? Whats the purpose of a dually pick up ? Wont this make towing more stable and safer ? Less wear on the rear tires ?

drw excursions are done all the time in conjunction with an f-650/750 graft. the front fenders stick out and so they use dually fenders in back too.
