Getting a Tonneau Cover

I'm looking for a Tonneau cover. I found a product at peragon.com and wanted to see if anyone on this forum has any commentary (good or bad) on this product.
For a 5.5 bed, $600 + $70 shipping. (peragon.com)

I'm looking for a retractable, hard surface, locking, low-profile, quality cover which is reasonably priced.

thanks in advance.

Looks good to me

Wow that thing looks great. I have a Bakflip and like it but for this price I think I would consider the peragon. I have the same bed size that you do.

If you continue your homework regarding Paragon, I think you will not find a SINGLE owner that's happy with it. That's probably why they only sell direct, no dealers would want to sell it.

Good retractable covers: Retrax, RollNLock, Pace Edwards (two models), TruckCoversUSA - Expensive, but probably the best. About the same price as the PE Full Metal Jacket, but the TCUSA is a better cover.

Bakflip is a folding cover (two models, plastic and aluminum). Other folding covers: FoldACover (two models, get the G2 Elite), Extang Solid Fold.

Looking online using Google, a LOT of people like Peragon tonneaus... I don't use one, but I'd consider one if I was looking. For someone to say you won't find a "SINGLE" owner that's happy with it is pretty bold. That would be like me saying not a SINGLE owner is happy with Line-X.

Interesting, I've not seen this one before. But there could be an issue opening the cover if the items in your bed slide to the front and take up the space where the accordian folding occurs.

Sorry, but Paragon is a piece of junk. I've seen it multiple times personally. I'll rank it right there with the first generation Bakflip which literally fell apart. I'm an expert at bedliners and accessories like you're an expert at the military.

If you get a Paragon, you will like it at first. Then, it will begin to leak, then things will warp and break. But, hey, do what you want to do.....it's not my money or truck.

So, ChargersFanInCO, why don't you go ahead and get one then, big guy?

Regarding the Paragon, a post from today on another forum, look at post #20.

I never seen a Peragon, so I'm not going to comment on that, but I can give a review on the Retrax. It cost me about $300 more than your $670 for the Peragon, for my 6.5' bed on my '06. I've been using it for about 2.5 years now and would easily drop the cash down for another one. It still looks and functions like the day I put it in. It retracts very easily and is so much more convenient than the snap up vinyl cover I had on my '97. The area it retracts into takes up a little space, 8"-10" maybe, never measured it, upper part of the bed only, things can slide in under it. The loss of space hasn't been an issue for me yet. Looks great on the truck too.

Oh my GOD...It's a Tundra forum, and that's the only post you can come up with? Spray over any other bedliners lately? Peragon removed you from their authorized distributor list, didn't they? That's why you hate them so much...

I'm just giving you chit...I couldn't care less about a tonneau cover. I haul too much crap to be opening and closing the thing every time I need to put something in it.

Peragon is scrap metal! I had one and at 70 MPH you thought the slates were coming off the truck. Also, everytime I went to open with stuff in the back, the stuff slid up so you couldn't open the cover. Had to crawl in under the cover and dig it out. You will have about 1 foot of bed space that you can't use. It leaks water like nobodies business. I threw it away and bought an extang snap on style cover for about $125.00. Does a much better job keeping the water out, although not water tight. Can remove it in a couple minutes if I have to.

Don't by a peragon. I could not get a refund.

Yea, that's pretty much how it goes. Like I said, no wonder they only sell direct.
