Well i don't know about when the PCM controls the alt on a single system, but i do know NOW that my first alt was not bad. The problem was the connector (not big red wire) on the alt. Who would have thunk??
the samll blade connector seemed to have spread over time i assume. After reading on here, I pushed both connectors back closer to center and now i get 14.1 v at idle.
Thanks for all the replies ! This is one thing I have never run across in over 20 years of fixin my own. I will be relplacing the conector soon, but I ma good for now.
For the record: Scangauge II does NOT read the voltage correctly. the scan gauge reaqd 13.1 volts while my must more trusted DMM read 14.1 everywhere on the positive line.
We are bound for Aztec. NM this weekend now for the Redline Cup qualifier !
