5.0 troubleshooting...

Got a 94 Mustang thats running hot. The temp gauge reacts VERY fast and shoots up to 3/4 in no time at all. Ran it a little earlier and noticed that there was steam/water leaking from what looks to be a sensor right above the cooling bypass hose just to the left of the distributor. I will be taking a picture soon to post on here, but does anyone know if thats the cooling temp sensor?! Why would it be leaking like that?! Do I need to take it out and reseal it? Do I use RTV to seal the threads!? Im going to check in a few minutes if the fan is working.

Bigger question is would the sensor just leaking like that cause the temperature to jump like that?

Its full of coolant and the t-stat seems to be working properly since the upper hose was hot to the touch.

The Stangs are just like the trucks and use a seperate temp sensor for the dash and computer, the one by the thermostat housing is for the computer, the dash sensor is drivers side lower intake in the front water passage near the head.
