2001 Escape Engine light
I've got the age old engine light problem on my escape which I've narrowed down to be the DPFE sensor and plan on buying the 4U7Z9J460AA Motorcraft part from rockauto.
My question is:
Does the following problem sound related to the DPFE issue or separate?
Every blue moon the car will die. My wife and I will come out from the store, crank the car, it acts like it's going to start, and then dies. it'll drive if i keep the gas revved, dying again at the first 1 or 2 stop signs, and then it will pick pack up and drive normal after that. Or...
After sitting for 15 min or so (maybe longer?), it cranks and drives home w/ no problem.
Will replacing the sensor address this problem as well, or not? Thanks in advance, and thanks for having me.
The Escape seem to have lots of problems with the IAC valves to give problems like you describing.
Still, start with your codes first.
I'll have to dig up that code. Thanks
As far as it starting then dying, that sound like the IAC. I've replaced this a few times on her's too.
Very easy to change, its right on top of the engine and there are only 2 bolts holding it on.
The DPFE sensor is even easier, it has one electrical plug, and is held on by the 2 rubber lines underneath it.
