Going up hills or just under any load I hear a l slight psst psst psst kinda noise. No rithym to it just random for a few seconds then stops. Almost like when you let air out of tires but def. not that. All gauges read normal, truck isnt losing any power, tach is normal. I just here this noise. I hear it very loudly with driver window open. Sounds like coming from behind pedal area. Any ideas????
truck is a 2001 lariat F250 CC with v-10. 57k on odo. Please help. I cant live with a noise!
I am the only owner of my truck and have had the noise since it was new. Dealership had it for a week and couldn't figure out the noise. Had a recording device hooked to my computer to turn on when it made the noise, and they couldn't determine what it was. I can make mine do it on request. Usually under a load at 1800-2000 RPM with a light throttle. Sounds kind of like a relief valve on an air tank letting off pressure. I have 110,000 miles on my truck and it still runs strong. I guess it isn't anything too major.
i bet it is exhaust flutter...my sweet spot for that is about 1800rpm-2200rpm's. when i first heard mine i thought i had picked up some bad fuel and freaked out, thats when i came to this site researched it then relaxed after i checked my plugs.
Could be just the "Y" pipe and you're not used to it. How long have you owned the truck?
Hey!
