The 6 speed is a ZF S6-650. It too has an integral bell housing

Actually it adapts the trans bell housing to the diesel block as the block is (I assume) designed for industrial applications, but they should have made it in the 460 bolt pattern, unless they didn't want them to swap out for possible compatibility issues like stall speed and governed shifting speed.

Yeah I,ve seen them on the bigger diesels,if I'm thinking the same thing, a lot of them use the same bell housings, instead of having a "flange" cast onto the back of the engine with different bolt patterns such as GMs "bow tie" Fords BB,SB FE etc you can make and bolt whatever you want on the back of the engine.
