I hope someone can help me. I have been to 4 mechanics, and my car has been connected to at least 5 computers to figure out what is wrong with it. First I will start with the transmission, I just had the transmission rebuilt in May (86,500 miles). The transmission mechanic is saying that the problems I am currently having with the transmission has to do with the way the engine is running. Here are the problems I am having with the engine, very rough idle (seat next to me will shake), at times when I start it up and put it into gear it will act like it's going to stall, and then rev/catch and I'm on my way. There are times when I am sitting idle it will shake, rattle and roll and other times it will purr like a kitten. Of course this is considered an "intermitent" problem and my level of frustration has reached it's limit. I have had a 100K mile service done, I have run Techtron Complete Fuel Injector System cleaner, I go to the same gas station every week, but I did let the car go to empty and filled up at another station, that didn't change anything. There are NO codes, no lights, no check engine, service engine NOTHING!! It has been suggested that it could be the "coil" or the Idle Control Module. Before the warranty runs out on my transmission rebuild, I need to eliminate that the engine is possibly effecting the transmission (which is what I have been told by the transmission guy).
I really hope someone out there has some suggestions, answers for me. I love my Ford Explorer and I really cannot afford to trade it in another vehicle.
