Hi, crawled under the truck today and couldn't find a number on the trans anywhere but it looks to me like the transfer case np208f mounts directly to the transmission there is NO adapter of any kind between the two if you can find a diesel f250 1986 with a automatic that is the one I have maybe the 208f is different than a 208???? let me know if you have any idea where on the trans. I might find the number you are looking for.My trans. mount is on the transfer case on the piece of housing between the transmission and the actual gear housing if this helps let me know. John
The mount is on the transfer case. The piece that would normally be the tailshaft or adapter is moulded right into the transfer case the front piece of the transfer case is actually as long as the tailshaft should be but does not bolt to the transfer case it is the front half of the transfer case and also incorperates the trans. mount this bolts directly to the transmission.
John
I have a C6 with a np208 transfer case and it is mounted direct (NO TAILSHAFT HOUSING) it is behind a 6.9 diesel.

you will not have a tailshaft housing on a 4wd c6 your t-case adapter bolts up where the 2wd ts-housing bolts, your output shafts will be different between a 2wd and 4wd or they are with my for my t-case a np208 I had a busted case and have found a bbc6 in a 2wd will use the shaft out of my busted unit to replace the 2wd shaft then it will all bolt together, bolt patterns are the same for c6 t-case adapter and c6 tailshaft housing to the trans
So the 4wd c6 has a short output shaft?
I'm trying to turn a 2wd short shaft c6 into a 4wd c6. I found a transmission for a 400M with transfer case and was wondering if I could just bolt that transfer case to my transmission since I'm not sure how good that other transmission is and not sure if it'll bolt up to my 390
