I have a 1979 f-250 that has either a 4 inch or 6 inch lift kit on it. The steering is really loose. Normally its not that big of deal but, with this project I wanted it to be able to handle some highway time. The drag link is a homeade one. I was told what I need is skyjacker part sdl250 which is an "s" shaped drag link. I'm wondering if this is going to make a significant difference in how loose the steering is now or do I need to look into crossover steering? I think crossover steering is currently out of the budget and maybe more than I can handle. But, if I can get away with going with the "s" draglink and making a big difference then I have no problem going that route for now.
Side note... the slack in the steering seems to be coming from the homeade piece. So, logic says if I replace that it will be a lot tighter but not sure if it will be a noticable enough difference to justify the $200 that could be spent towards a crossover setup later down the line.
Anyone? I'd like to hear some feedback before I order. The guy says its a 6inch lift so will I need a drop pitman arm on top of the adjustable draglink?
