I'm new to the forum and I'm hoping maybe someone can help me out. I have a 1960 F100. The front leaf springs look to be original and have zero arch in them. I want to raise the front end of my truck up about 1-1 1/2 inches to level it out with the back. Will replacement springs from LMC, Truck Shop, etc. achieve this? I guess what I'm asking is "does any one know how much arch a front leaf for a 2-wheel drive 1960 F100 should have when it's installed in the truck and loaded with the weight of the engine, etc.?" Thanks in advance for any replies.
I would look for a local spring shop and let them re-condition the old springs. They will know the specs.
You may have to take them off to save a few bucks and bring them in but then, you were going to remove them anyway so... It's worth a shot and bound to be less expensive then buying new ones.
Thanks for the reply and, you're right...I stopped at a local spring shop after work today and the owner of the shop said he can level the truck out to within 1/4" for around $350 parts and labor by adding a new leaf with the proper arch. That's less than I can buy new springs for and that includes installation.
