Airbag Concern/Disable

My 16yr old daughter is driving a 95 Explorer. She is barely 5' tall and to reach the pedals the drivers seat is very far forward and she is practically laying on the steering wheel. My question is, can I disable the air bag? I'm afraid that if it were to deploy it may cause more harm that help.

Thanks,
Pete

Hmmm, if she's that close to the steering wheel, it sounds like panic manuevers, etc. maybe should be of equal concern as the airbags. Afterall, not being able to avoid accidents AND not having working airbags is not a good combination.

You could unplug the airbag module to disable it, but that may cause the SRS indicator in the dash to remain illuminated. I don't have a wiring diagram for the 1995 to know how it's triggered.

Either way, she will be injured should she have an incident, get her in a vehicle that fits her..
