I am going to change motor oils brands from the one that the dealer uses. I have read alot about Rotella. Walmart sells Shell Rottella T 15w40. Is this full synthetic? Is is a preferable oil or should I choose another brand and weight?
Thanks, Canadian Tire is the only place that sells the Rotella 5w/40 at $29.00 FOR 4 leters (1 gallon). Walmrt sells 15w/40 at $19.00 (gallon). Thanks for the clarification. So I went out and bought 4 gallons.

Just had a gander in the manual and 5w/40 is acceptable in the lower temps not for summer temps. Will I be doing any harm. It recommends that I use 15w/40.
I run it all year round up here. Our winters are not as harsh as yours are but we see some temps at or near 20 below. The truck loves it. One thing to remeber with the Rotella even the synthetic is keep at 5k oil changes. My black stone report shows it still shearing pretty good. So I dropped it down to 4k and all is good now.
Yes they say I can go further but 1k isnt going to make or break me so I choose to do it more frequently and know all is well.
