I have a 96 ford f 250 7.3 longbed. i put the edge programmer in it. it is set for tow which it is 60hp and 100torq now i am dumping out black smoke when excelerating it did not do this before do i have a boost problem this is my only mod.?????
A stock truck with just a edge programmer shouldn't be smoking much at all... Is your air filter clean?
Maybe have your boost numbers checked. Doesn't seem right.
Ive used a edge Evo and it too smoked A LOT smoked in Idle and during acceleration even when runing constant speed in cruise. Looked like a coal burning freight train. The biggest dause I found was two part clogged FPR screen and needing the FPR Shim that cleared it up alot fuel pressure caused misfueling and excess smoke, seemed fine til I tried to change programs and it killed my PCM 4 times so I got rid of the edge. But if it works on yours good deal check your FPR pressure and screen that should clear a lot of it up.
FPR is the fuel pressure regulator it is the device on the driver side of your filter bowl housing. inside of your filter bowl with the filter removed you will notice there is a small tube about 3/8" dia about 1" down from the top that leads to it at the other end of that tube is a screen that gets clogged up like your fuel filter you can try cleaning it off from the inside of the the filter bowl or I suggest removing thte 2 10mm bolts that hold the regulator in place and pull it to the side to clean it thoughly not the is a square oring on the connection point of that tube dont lose it. Then when your done witht that chack your fuel pressure at the regulator and determine if it needs to be shimmed.
