So I posted under the Alaska Chapter but no one has responded. I have seen a few X owners from AK here. We never pay a mechanic because my husband takes care of all our mechanical needs, so I am unsure where to go. Not a Cal fan so he’s my LAST resort.
Hello fellow Alaskans- How about this summer??? So far it has been AWESOME!!
I am in search of a mechanic in the Anchorage area to change my glow plugs. I have a ’01 Excursion 7.3. My husband is deployed and I am not sure if glow plugs are a task I am ready to take on myself. I purchased the glow plugs and the wiring harness so hubby could change while home between deployments but that never happened as time vanished while he was home. The cylinder #4 glow plug keeps throwing the service engine light. It is time, they need replaced. I just need a mechanic who won’t rob me blind for the labor. I called a guy in Eagle River but he has yet to return my call. Thanks for any help you can share, Jill <O
I too am in AK, Eagle River in fact! I'm new here and haven't needed a mechanic for my Ex yet. I did take my F150 to CAL...concur, will not use him again if at all possible. I'll make sure and check for ya in our region. If you find a reputable mechanic, pls post as I would love to have a standby. Mine's a gasser, and have no experience with glowplugs...
This is a reply to some older posts but: I recommend Arctic Truck in South Anchorage for F250/350 mechanic work. They are top notch and know these trucks/chassis inside out. Moe and Fred are great guys. Their shop rate is reasonable, and the only downside is their warranty is 3 months/3k miles.
For Diesel Work in Anchorage: Powerstrokes of Alaska. They know it all, and do great work at a great price. Warranty's are good too.
