OK, just so you know there are lots of possibilities with these trucks, lots of power, lots of options, ect.
Anyhow, recently I ran from Seattle to my parents place, about 367 miles and got 23.5 mpg going 68 mph @ 2K RPM. From reading everyone's posts on here I have learned that 2K is the optimum cruising RPM and 2.3K is for power at high speed.
Anyhow, I just wanted to throw that out there
Edit: Oh, and BTW, on the new truck, YOU SUCK! yet, NICE FIND
Wish I had a truck with so few miles on it but none the less I VERY much enjoy my truck. 190K and ready for the big load!
Next weekend will be pulling my dad's 7K lbs boat out to Montana to do some fishing and camping. I make him jealous because his gasser will use about 76 gallons (Ford 460 1 Ton) and I use about 20 for the same trip!!!!
Enjoy your truck man and post those pics! We love to drool over each other's trucks.
18mpg... somebody kill me now. I don't know what I'm getting, but I'll bet even with my DP its not 18. If I wasn't so broke, I'd top off the fuel tank and do some mileage checking just to be sure.
You guys should be getting 18 too if you not nailing the pedal. I get 16 around town and 19 to 23 on the hwy, unless I'm running at almost 80 with the AC on then I get about 15.5
I will almost guarantee I'm not getting 18. I try to keep RPM's under 2k and I'm mostly well behaved when driving... but I do occasionally have to blow smoke at someone
Yea, don't blame ya. Well there must be a way to get ya some more economy. Ever thought of going propane injection?
NO. Too unpredictable, I can't afford to window a block. I haven't checked my mpg in over a year... fill ups cost too much when you haul 50+ gallons of fuel And when I'm full, I'm usually hauling something heavy.
P.S. The truck now has 18,000 miles on the odometer. It was owned by a 75 year old man who used it several times a year to pull a 5th wheel.
That is the unicorn right there!
When anyone in my family speaks of a vehicle they'd like to buy, its sort of an inside joke for someone else to say "somewhere, some old man has one in his garage and it only comes out twice a year". Haha..well..turns out that old man really exists. Nice find!
