In the last week or 2 I have been smelling what I can only describe as that of a bakery. Well, more like fresh baked bread. At first I thought I thought maybe coolant somewhere, due to the "sweet" smell. I am keeping close tabs on it and it hasn't gone down, or up for that matter. All fluids appear to be where they should be. The only other thing I was thinking was maybe the grease from the u-joints I just greased flinging extra onto the exhaust and it burning. Just wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this? I was a little nervous as I was working almost into Maryland for the last 2 weeks and it was a 1.5 hour drive each way and I didn't want to be stuck somewhere early in the AM, or later in the evening for that matter. TIA- Tim
Negative Ghostrider. It just concerned me a little, plus it makes me hungry Still running B10 with the exception of 2 tanks, 1/2 full each time and the B10 pump wasn't working, so I ran reg. ULSD. I was fueling every other day, I could make it 2.5 days down and back maybe 3 but didn't want to chance it. $25 a day in fuel so I'm glad I'm done there.
I can't remember if it was on this site or the Duramax site but there was a guy tripping out that he knew he could smell coolant, he was checking everywhere, no leaks. Turns out one of his kids ditched a maple syrup waffle under his back seat
I guess it smelled just like coolant, anyways sorry to get off topic this post just made me think of it and laugh.

Good luck with your smell, look for waffles.
I remember it too!! It was a great post.
Tim - I wish I had some idea that could help you, but other than it actually being a VERY small coolant leak somewhere, I am empty handed!
I am sure you know about this but did you happen to switch to Rotella 15W40 Dino lately? That stuff will stink your truck up bad, it is even worse in the Cummins, the smell comes in the cab while you drive.
Actually the dealer put in Motorcraft 15-40 after the new HPOP but that was 2 months ago, and I'm just smelling it in the last 2 wks. 2k miles until I switch back to Rotella 5-40. Thats funny about the waffles though, I'll have to take a look around!
