I'm posting for my dad since he doesn't own a computer. He recently bought a 2003 F250 with a 6.0 turbo and he is interested in doing some mods. He is a 65 year old man and not interested in high performance. He does pull a travel trailer quite often and is mostly interested in maximizing fuel economy. I am trying to do some research for him and stumbled on this site. So far I am leaning towards the Superchips Cortex flash programmer and MBRP 4" stainless Turbo back exhaust system. I plan to retain the stock cat. Any input on this setup will be greatly appreciated!
Again, my dad is just an everyday driver and frequent travel trailer puller!
Thanks! <!-- / message --><!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig --><!-- END TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig -->

As bismic already mentioned, "you're" going to want something that offers you custom tunes, SCT X3(not the LiveWire, it still has issues from what I've been hearing) or the Spartan Phalanx. I think Gryphon also allows for custom tuning using the Edge Evolution, but it would be better to stick with the first two.
Exhaust would be a good mod and the brand you picked is a good one, so that one I would say you're set.
Gauges, I would suggest gauges before the tuner(that is open for debate by people), but in my mind even if the truck is never tuned in the end, speaking as a person that also tows alot gauges are a big plus.
You didn't mention it, but I'll bring it up just in case. There is going to be no need for a a/m air filter on the 6.0 as far as performance and filtration goes. The stock one on these engines is one of the better ones out there unless "you" intend to raise the rpm range of the truck which would entail injectors and/or turbos. Don't try to let people sell "you" on the performance and filtration aspects of an a/m intake version the stock one on the 6.0.
I've yet to lay eyes on the truck, he just bought it from a private owner. ( the guy died and his wife didn't want it). Dad says it's a very clean truck, only 2WD. I don't think it has any mods on it. It seems there's a consensus on the EGR delete, seems easy enough to do. Coolant filter seems a good idea too.
By the way, Can anyone suggest good reputable web sites for parts? I have looked at Thoroughbred diesel. They have good prices with free shipping.
I have used them for my FASS fuel filters(I no longer have the stock fuel pump) and I haven't had a problem with their service. I would recommend them.
For your stock filters(oil and stock fuel) I use diesel filters online. They have it set up were it's real easy to do re-orders for the filters.
Those are the only two that I have experience with.
