In Tank Mod

Anyone gone back into there tanks to see if there is any reaction between the brass compression fittings and the stainless steel pipe. ?? I have read that these two metals will react with each other.

The type of reaction is called galvanic corrosion. If your diesel is clean (i.e. no water) this corrosion shouldn't occur.

Or dissimilar metal corrosion . Metals will only react in the presence of water, and the brass being the less noble of the two will go first, but I wouldn't worry about it.

Zero corrosion on my fuel tank mod.
And I've had it back out a year later to check on things.

The type of connections that I used were compression fittings, no sealant required.

Also, please let me remind all who do this, that there needs to be some sort of filtration between the tank and the pump.
There is a screen on the inside of the fuel pump inlet that will get clogged within weeks if you do not do this.
I speak from personal experience.

That is a good tip for those making their own kit Dan. Something so simple is often overlooked.

I bought the ITP kit (great kit BTW) and it had a filter that mounts on the frame rail and is between the tank and the fuel pump suction.

No prods Dan. Got the filter, just tryn to source the in tank parts now. Going to get the stainless steel fittings. So these compression fittings secure a seal as you screw down on em ??

The ones I used were AN fittings that crimp onto the tubes so no sealant required here either.
