CCV Mod Tubing Question

I have spent a good part of today reading about all my options on the mod. There has been plenty of questions and concerns about back pressure when doing this mod. My question is this.

I have an 02 Crew Cab SB. I would like to mount the canister to the fuel tank plate. Is there, or has anyone used 1" tubing instead of the 3/4" tubing? Thoughts, concerns, am I over thinking this?

I could use 3/4" to get it under the truck then switch to 1" if getting a 1" nipple into the dog box is going to be a problem.

I would like to run alittle larger line also. You would think the larger line would have a less likely chance of clogging plus maybe be easier for the engine to breath out of.

i ran 5/8 tubing its a little bit smaller than the 3/4.i dont have any issuse with to much back pressure.so i dont think that the 3/4 would be an issue either.but it does make sense that the bigger hose would flow better.try it with the 1in hose and let us no how it works

I've been running the 3/4-inch line to my rear axle for two years with no issues at all. Being that you're in a much colder climate than I, there is one more thing to consider regarding going to a larger line.

One of the back presure problems has been the accumulation (and freezing) of condensed vapors during cold weather conditions. If you go to a larger line, you're going to reduce the vapor veocity which will allow it to cool and condense even more quickly, and thereby increase any potential for freezing and plugging. By staying with the 3/4-inch hose all the way, the vapors will still cool adequately and at the same time not too quickly.

Also, I would personally recommend that you insert your catch cannister somewhere around the driver door position so that any concensed vapors are caught before they can freeze up inside the line.

Remember, too, that the longer the hose run, the harder it is to avoid dips and low spots where condensed vapors can accumulate and create back pressure, which is why it's better to position your catch can as early as possible so that any dips or low spots in teh hose run are much less likely to present a problem.
