engine rebuild
i want to rebuild my 6.9 Liter turbo diesel, i would like to keep as much as possible and just send them to a mahine shop, i need to get new injectors, return line kit, glowplugs i know for sure but if anyone has done a rebuild and has advice and pricing on how much it will cost thanks a lot

How many miles on the engine now?
What year is the engine?
In mine I went with,
30 over pistons
30 over rings
New cam
New lifters
New oil pump
New bearings and seals
Pistons milled down .040 to lower the base compression ratio
ARP head studs
DPS Stage 1 injectors
Modified 94 turbo IP DB2 5070
Crank polished
93 7.3 Turbo valves
7.3 rockers
New valve springs
Heads reworked
Block and heads magnafluxed
Block bored .030
New turbo (turbo only, I reused the plumbing)
New ZD 9 glow plugs, my system is manual only
My machine shop and parts bill was 4500 dollars.
I got a lot of my parts through the machine shop, they gave me a better price than I could get anywhere else.
I also had probably 4 to 5 hundred in other fasteners, paint, oil, filters, belts, hoses, coolant and other incidentals.
I did all of the disassembly and assembly myself, so no labor in the above numbers other than the machine shop charges.

I have a 1986 6.9 Liter ATS Turbo, no clue how many miles are on it two owners before me and the odometer reads 28,518 i am guessing 228,518 but i am not sure at all. What Turbo did you buy was it a wastegated ats turbo. would love for me to be able to do the tear down and build up but my garage is small and i dont have all the tools to do the job. When did you decide to rebuild your engine or what was your indication that it must be done.
