Steering box

everybody
I was doing some more work on the 58, and noticed when i pulled the steering box up through the floor there was a single wire at the bottom of the box! Anybody know what this is for???

That wire goes all the way up through the center of the steering shaft to the horn button. The other end (the end you see coming out of the steering box) goes through the harness to the horn relay. When you press the horn button, it grounds this wire and energizes the relay which in turn powers the horn.

I figured the horn was connected through the harness i unplugged under the dash.
