Ok so im looking into swapping a 96 PSD/e4od/bw case into my 79 F-350. Question is what all takes a reading off the vss in the sterling rear? Just the speedo or does it count for any tranny or engine management issues? Could i just swap on a np205 case and get an electronice speedo sending unit into the 205? I really want to use my DRW Dana 70 rear.
Ok well this is all coming out of a 96 F-350 Ambulance. Its a Pathfinder 4wd conversion. Im using my 79 Dana 60 front with DRW hubs. So if i use my 79 model brake booster and master cylinder i wont have to deal with the ABS correct? So then i can use the Autometer electronic sending unit for the NP 205 case? What im doing is using the gauge cluster from the 96 and fabbing up a mount for it to go into the 79 dash.
I duno about all of that, but if you just leave the sensor in the unit and have it unplugged, it wont make a difference on how the brakes operate as long as you have them setup the way you want them.
The sensor only tells the unit under the dash if the tires are slipping, or is counting the teeth on the thing so it can see how fast its going.
As for it being for speed, I'm not 100% sure. I know its for the ABS though.
Actually, your better off not listening to me at all most likely. hahaha.
I know that the speedo works off the sensor and i know how to get around that. I was just wondering if the vss had anything to do with shift patterns of the auto or throttle control
