i bought the 97 f250hd knowing that the pass window didnt go down. i took the panel off and the window was held up with vise grips. and the motor was missing. i ordered a new motor. it came in today so i go out and install it. press the button and it goes down. press it to go up and nothing. the other side does the same. it unplug the motor and reverse it plug it back in and it does up but not down. i guess there is a broken wire or something. anyone have a solution or the same problem that they fixed? is there a wiring diagram around on the door window wiring? thanks!
ok.... i can make the window go down from both sides. but it wont go up from either side. unless i reverse the plug on the motor and then it goes up from both sides, not down. ok so is there an easy way to fix it. i dont car if it works like factory. as long as i can 1. roll the pass up/down from drivers side only or 2. roll the pass up/down from that side. any rigging i can do?
no workie.... i dont really understand the posted diagram. i dont know the ford wiring system very good at all. i thought i could cut some wires that pass between the switches and just single them out to operate their own window.
Remove the driverside switch panel. Unscrew the plug on the switches and swap the switches. Put the plug back on and see if the passenger window works. If the window works, you need a new switch.
Disregard the previous diagram. I didn't realize the wire colors changed after '93.
On the diagram, the #400 Light Blue/Black is the 12V+. The #57 Black is the Negative. When the switch is at rest, both the #313 White/Violet and #314 Tan/Light Blue are connected to Negative. When the switch is pressed UP, it disconnects the White/Violet from the Negative and connects it to the 12V+ and the Tan/Light Blue remains connected to Negative. When the switch is pressed to DOWN, the Tan/Light Blue disconnects from Negative and connects to 12V+ and the White/Violet is Negative, thereby reversing the current to the motor.
You need to test to see if you are showing Negative to the White/Violet and Tan/Light Blue with the switch at rest at both switches.
ok i bought a window switch today from the junk yard and put it in and i have the same problem. the window will go up but not back down. ahh im starting to get pissed off right about now...lol
Did you try the new switch in the driverside door?
The fact that the window goes up but not down, tells me the wiring is OK between the drivers door and passenger door.
well i tried the new switch on the drivers window and that window goes up and down. the switch is good. but from the drivers side the pass window does nothing. from the pass side it only goes down. i have to reverse the plug to get it back up.
well between those posts i unplugged the window motor and turned the plug 180 and plugged it back in. so now the "down" button makes the window go up. either way when i press the button down it will go down. nothing when up is pressed. to get the window back up i have to reverse the plug at the motor and press down, making the window go up. ah!
