well a few months ago i swapped my 300 out for a 360 the power gains were apreciated for a while but now im used to it so ive gotten my hands on a 4 barrel intake and a holley 600 cfm 4 barrel. i also have flowteck headers and a straight up timing chain on the way the truck has true dual 2 1/4 inch exhaust running through the freeiest flowing muffler carquest stocks. im just wondering if you guys think ill see gains worth all the trouble. oh and ive gasket matched the intake to the heads and smoothed all surfaces for free flow.
yes. I would say it's definitely worth it. You'll have more power, and you'll get better mpg's with the 4v as long as you can keep your foot out of it The headers and straight up timing chain will benefit your power the most and is step one on all FE's. You're on the right track.
nope already ditched the points put in a duraspark distributor that had a little help on proformance but mostly at higher rpm. not that with a c6 trans 3.00 rear gear and 31 inch tires it sees alot of high rmp.
any other little things i could do while im at it.
Not a whole lot else you can do externally. The next upgrade for a 360 is a 390 rotating assy. Lol Dont know if you wanna get into that though. Its really not all that expensive to do. You can usually find parts pretty cheap. But it's the biggest power and efficiency gain you can do to a 360.
thats the next step i had planned for when the power becomes not enough again. but im thinking a stroked out 390. the truck is a daily driver so im trying to keep mods for now things that can me done in a day or 2
I did more or less the same thing. Did everything I could to it as a 360, and when I had enough time it could be down... bored and stroked it to 445ci. No power complaints here.
