Unless the modern materials are much better... seems like all I ever heard about them was they shrunk in the winter and were to stretchy in the summer. I like the idea of being able to put something taller though without removing the whole thing. But the main requirement is it seals good, no sense of putting one on there to me if it isnt going to keep gear dry underneath (well maybe for mpg to but most say it doesnt help much for mpg anyhow).
This is what is nice about the Truxedo, it stays tight year round. I have had mine for 3 years now and it works great at keeping everything dry. Also, it can be completely removed in about 5 minutes if you need the whole bed for hauling bulky stuff like hay.
The lifetime warranty is a big deal to me. It covers everything including the fabric, even if you tear it, although I have found it to be extremely tough.
I thought I would share my experience. I like the look of the hard covers but taking it off is too much of a pain -- I never know when I need to haul something tall. I was then thinking of the retractables - I like the clean lines but sacrificing that much box space isnt good for me. I didnt like the lines of most of the tonneau covers (especially the corners that get that turned up look). I tried the new Extang Revolution hoping its mounting and sealing system would alleviate those concerns. The cover did not meet my expectations of quality and hence was returned. I now have a Truxedo LoPro >> they appear to be the best of the tonneaus from the three different retailers I spoke with!
I have a Truxedo Lo Pro. It is very easy to use and works well at keeping the contents of the bed dry. It also has a lifetime warranty, even on the fabric, which I think is a good deal.
I'm currently waiting for my '11 F-250 and leaning towards the Extang Solid Fold. The shop is pushing the Truxedo Lo Pro. I know the vinyl types are much improved....but I am curious....does it stretch and contract over the seasons needing adjustment; does it fade/crack/need protective treatments; and does it rattle/thump/or make any noise while highway driving ?

I have had mine on for over 3 years, and only adjusted it a couple of times. In the summer I take it off and put it back on 2-3 times per week during haying season, and it always goes back on with needing to adjust. The fabric still looks great and it is covered on the lifetime warranty. I just wash it with a soft brush whenever I wash the rest of the truck, no other treatment is necessary. There is no noise whatsoever with the Truxedo. Once it is rolled out and secured, it has very little motion even at 70 mph.
I have the Truxedo Lo Pro as well. I have no complaints at all. Easy to use, easy to remove, and easy to reinstall. It does'nt take anytime at all to remove it. It has velcro all along both sides and stays nice and tight.
