I have a 1990 F150 w/E4OD and 351 CI engine. At higher RPM's, there is a kind of rattling in the transmission. This is usually over 3000 RPM, but it almost sounds like there is loose metal inside the tranny or something. It doesn't do it at lower RPM's at all. Any help is appreciated.

good luck with the e4od. i have an 89 f350 with the diesel and the e4od. i am on my 3rd tranny. this last one has less than 1000 miles and already it is making whining noises from the pump and makes a noise similar to what you are describing. my noise happens when i am towing my boat, going down the road and trying to maintain steady speed...not pulling and not coasting. when i mash the fuel it quits. when i let completely off the fuel, it still makes the noise but not quite as bad. not pulling the boat, it is barely noticable. this last unit was over $2k and was a remanned unit from ford. do you or anyone have any ideas before i have them install another unit?

For that F350, a shift kit and high capacity pump maybe. Also, the best torque converter you can buy. Good luck.
