I've isolated the source of my front end noise to either a shock / shock bushing or a stabilizer link.
I've got some new Monroe's on the way as the Truck still has original shocks at 230K and it's due.
The stabilizer link that may be making noise is a TRW replacement that I installed a few years back .. it's all metal with bushings and washers.
It's assembled properly, but is it possible for these to make a squeeking noise over bumps if they are not properly torqued?
Are the ball joints original? Mine started squeaking before they went bad. They also went bad at around 240K miles. The only noise I have heard an end link make is a tapping or clanging after they snap in half and they make them while going over bumps.
Rubber bushings on all shocks were bad ... especially the top bushings, they were virtually powder. Front right was so bad that the shock could be moved easily by hand - noise was the shock moving around in the mount.
Rides real nice with the new Munroe Gas Magnums, just a little stiffer than the originals. I'm hoping I can get 220K out of the Munroe's also !
