All, hello...I'm new to the forum. Had my dually 4X4 F-350 for a bunch of work to the local Ford dealership today. $3700.00 later and I now have a vibration between 74KPH and 89KPH.
They replaced the rear pinion seal which now has me wondering as they said the rear ??? (I think they are referring to the faceplate that the drive shaft bolts to)...is out of round by 40 thousand of an inch causing the vibration.
Don't they have to pull this to replace the seal? Wondering if they used a puller and a little too much torque...bending the damn thing.
Battle brewing...I won't burn anybody but I could surely use a suggestion or two...the universals are sound!
Tony, hello! Well it's in the drive train. Front end is sound. Vibrates throughout the truck from 74-89KPH both during acceleration and while slowing down through the same range. Feels like a universal, but all of them are sound. The only thing I can figure is that Ford replaced the rear pinion seal during the servicing a day earlier, and used a puller to get the attaching plate off of the rear differential spline....as it has never been off before I suspect it was stubborn which resulted in excessive torque being applied...ending in the round attaching plate (don't know the correct name) being bent 40 thousand out of round...which is causing the vibration during these speed ranges...what do you think? It's going in Monday to have that part replaced.
