Drive ratios

FORD TRANSIT
I have replaced the single wheel rear axle on my Ford Transit R.V. with a dual wheel rear axle.

The single rear axle had a diff ratio of 3.89/1
The dual wheel rear axle has a diff ratio 4.63/1

What difference does this make to my R.V. ?

How can I obtain a similiar or lower ratio similiar to my previous 3.89/1 bearing in mind that replacement parts are extremely difficult for my model FORD TRANSIT?

Drive ratios

This will seem to have more "oomph", but gas mileage will drop some. I am not sure about replacement gears however.

There are alot of adds for gear sets in 4wd truck magazines.
If you can I.D. the differential you should'nt have a problem
finding them.

It is a U.K Model Ford

Comes as cab/chassis or transit......trans(port)it van.
Quite common in the U.K/Australia as postal vans.

Mine was a cab/chassis conversion to a Motorhome (R.V.)
