I might cut and weld it, but I sure wouldn't remove it...

Lets try to talk about why the crossmember does not fit anymore? I'm an advocate for fabrication, but in this case, it sounds as though something is just not square, and attention should be paid to the real problem, and this real problem is what is preventing this x-member from lining up.
Whats crooked and preventing this from bolting in?

Are we talknig the tranny mount x-member or the x-member under the bellhousing of the tranny?

I think the one under the bellhousing. If willis moved the motor back or down in his build this x-member would come on contact with the bellhousing pretty easy. My bellhousing on my NV4500 almost rests on the cx-member. In fact I can't pull the tranny with the motor in the truck after my swap. I will therefore be grinding out the rivets from that x-member and changing them out for bolts so I can take the x-member out to then drop the trans.

Any chance that crossmember took a hit? I had to repace mine cause it looked like someone ran over a fence post with it. after I removed it during the rebuild, it would not go back in. A replacement went in just fine.

The 91 dodge I had with the cummins that I bought to be the original motor donor was pretty sweet though

Willis1991,
Sounds like you disassembled everything (like I did). Mine fit, until I took it apart, then started reassembly after blasting and painting. I think that when you pull that crossmember, it allows the frame to truly return to its original dimensions. You should be able to find a good crossmember. I think I got mine for around $30. It fit like a glove (not the OJ type). The one that had been damaged and repaired wouldn't fit.
