ive got a weird sqeeking noise sound kinda like sqeeky clean glass (I know weird comparison but the closest thing it sounds like) when rolling at parking lot speeds cant figure it out sounds like it coming from the rear axle hit the breaks it stops hit the gas it stops. any ideas what it could be?
I'd start with the u joints -check by shaking-or put on lift or jack up and shake -then turn em real slow-that may be it-if it only stopped noise when applying brake I'd say brakes
Second the U-joint theory. If they've got grease fitting, grease the tar out of them and see if it stopped the squeak. If so, you're probably soon due to change 'em.
no not belts ins more of a drive line speed noise not engine speed not even thinking it u joints keep listening and cnt diffrenate an paticular side the noise is comeing from. my only day off is tomrrow so im going to grease the heck out of them. wish I could find slicer u-joints in town
I just finished getting rid of the squeaky noises comming from my 1993 f250 4x4, my problem was just like yours as soon as I touched my brakes the noise went away. It was driving me ****in crazy. I took off my front wheels and as soon as I saw my pads and calipers I realized that the P.O. who had replaced the pads about 3000 miles ago had not used any lubricant on the caliper slider pins or on any of the surfaces where the pads have metal on metal contact with the caliper also the pad backing plates that contact the caliper pistons had zero anti squeal compound on them. I used a synthetic high temperature silicone based lubricant. Sqeaky noises all gone.
