I have a 1996 F350 diesel dually and I pull 2 bobcats on a fifth all over texas and never had a problem with trany and truck is going on 402,500 miles so far. Granted it is the D.I.T. but same tranny
Than why not use a tractor if you are that worried about the trans in the pickup?
Speed. 25mph vs 15mph is a huge difference when the load needs to travel eight miles and theres several loads a day. With a pickup, hauling an empty to the field and bringing a load back is already 40+ minutes, knock 10mph off hauling speed and your lookin' at over an hour. Someday a Peterbilt will be involved
I guess I'll just run it the same as the other pickups and if the auto takes a dump it'll be a perfect excuse to buy a ZF or T19. I can't exactly make that arguement if the auto still works.
