Please help an old man out. I could swear there's nothing about this in my 2000 Ford 4x4 owner's manual, or on the website.
What is the gear ratio in my 4x4-Lo setting in the transfer case (I was trying to calc my crawl ratio the other day). For instance, I know my 1st-gear gear ratio, I know my final axle ratio, aren't I missing another piece? If I'm not, then I've only got 410 lb feet of torque going down each separate drive shaft before it gets to the final gear ratio
T-case should be in the 2.7(2.72?) to 1 range, give or take a little, sorry, not up on all the newer cases! To get your crawl ratio, this is expressed as tranny first x low range x rear gearing, example-3.00 to 1 first, 2.7 to 1 low, 4.10 to 1 rear, this would equal appx. 33.2 to 1 crawl ratio. For the torque, same thing, but plug in the torque of the engine, for example, 400 lb-ft(of peak torque) x first(3.00) x low(2.7) x rear(4.10) would equal appx. 13,285 lb-ft of torque going into the axles! More like the number your lookin' for? Hope this clears up things a little bit for you!
