just baught a 1983 6.9l and it is smoking like no other. i first had the injectors tested there all good then ran a compression test all good at 400 then messed around with twisting the ip still tons of white smoke no power and the exaust smells like fuel.
Any history on the engine...... was it rebuilt, or the IP replaced. When you did the injectors did you replace the return lines and caps........ also replace the copper washers on the injectors..... who did the work.
i replaced washers and return lines myself before putting the injectors back in. the ip is a remanufactured from 1999 unsure of its milage. the motor work was supposivly a complete rebuild, but i dont really know because i lean saled it from the owner of the shop. i didnt care so much about the history because i figured the price as right at $350 when he had recieps foe about $2500 in parts and labor. i hope this isint all off topic from what you wanted.
how would i go about checking this because i have bled the injectors and have gotten just fuel also a see no bubbles in the line running back to the fuel water seperator. my guess is that the pump is either injecting at the wrong time or just injecting way to much but i just dont know enough about these motors.
i say run like crap . it idled and reved up fine just white smoked and had no power. never heard of one being 180 out . pump only goes on one way unless ip gear moved
