well joe that connection on the back looked like the oil pressure sending unit and yes that thing you called a CDR valve was correct. You may not need to replace it so check it first, if it is really old then go ahead anyway. As for the fuel problem, i am not sure, sounds like air in lines but if some are bleeding and some are not, i would say the IP is having some issues.
Joe there are three wires in the selector valve for fuel gauge sending unit to fuel gauge connections.
Yellow with white stripe goes to the gauge.
Yellow with light blue stripe to the rear sending unit.
Dark blue with yellow stripe to the front sending unit.
Brown with white stripe and black are the leads that run the motor to switch tanks that go to the switch in the dash.
Right now I can't find the wire locations on the plug though.
