My 2000 Exp ash tray (the whole ash trey compartment that pushes in and out of the dash) does not pop out anymore. There must be some form of spring behind the trey door that pushes the whole door out when you press on it. Anyone else have this problem and were you able to fix it?

 

There is a piece of spring steel behind there that pushes it out. I took the tray out once and bent the steel a bit, just to give the tray a bit more omph when popping out. On the top of the tray near the left and right edges are tabs that have to be pressed down so that the tray can pull out of the dash. They're pretty hard to see, you'll need a couple of long thin screwdrivers to reach back to the tabs.
