Does anyone know how hard it would be to swap out a AOD out of a 85 F-150, to like a 4-speed any ford kind, or a ZF, T-5, or if i get a good deal M5OD,? Thanks

rebuild the aod and keep it.
but, if you must row around with a shifter, don,t get the m5od even if it is free. it is junk.
the t5 will locate the shifter under the seat, so, this leaves you with a zf if you want overdrive and granny gear. if you want a real off road box, get a t18, t19, or np435. these have granny low, but no overdrive.
there are other overdrive manual units, but most are for lighter duty.
I know whats available, but the AOD rebuild costs 800, and I'd figure I could get a good used Manual for that? I'd love to have a 5, but 4's are alot stronger, I'm told. So what would I have to do to change, clutch etc? How much money am I lookin at?
Thanks,
Nick

in my opinion it would cost more than 800.00 to change everything over unless you can get a whole truck cheap, i cant find a 5spd for uner 750.00. my 2 cents
