I guess anything is possible, but it might be kind of difficult. How did you have the PCM & IDM plugged into the motor if the engine was out, or did you have the injectors laying under the hood plugged into the wiring?
No it is a function of the PCM and the IDM, you need to have full power and full hook ups, if you could mock up every electrical harness and computer it would work

I thought the PCM is what activated the poppets in the injector for the buzz test? And for the PCM to talk to the injectors, the communication has to go through the IDM, right? Is there a way to perform a buzz test without plugging into the OBDII port with a scanner?

Yes i have a spare harness and gasket i cut the conector out off so just pluged it in. as i said it did not buzz. I was wandering is it coil against spring with the poppet. if so it should buzz. also are yall sure the buzz is all then 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8. it is not firing order???
I don't think so. The buzz test is initiated through the obd port. All of the wiring and pcm needs to be intact from what I understand. Matter of fact, with my AE software, if there are problems with any connection, those need to be resolved before any test can be run as there will be a connection failure.
What is the firing order that is what found in a post on here. I did not think it looked right . I was thinking with some compresion numbers being higher it would make the companiun cyinder to show high on the contribution test. that is another problem....

I have a solus i have run the buzz a few times i was going to hook up the injector and lay it to the side. i have changed 2 injectors from high contribution test numbers now i wonder if they where bad. after the change the number is still not where it should be i have run a compresion test and it has low compresion,
