I'm looking at a 2000 F350 Super Duty PSD, and during the test drive i noticed that the transmission was a little different than any i'm used too. its setup with Reverse in the top left and first below that. Is that a standard 6 speed gear pattern?
Ok, thanks. thats kind of what i thought. I've drove everything from 3-5, and just never had the opportunity to drive a 6spd, and it didnt have a diagram on the shifter ... was kind of weird trying to take off from a stop light and i kept jumping back towards the grand cherokee behind me ...
Think of it as a standard 5 speed. 1 is just a granny gear that you'll only use when pulling a heavy trailer up a steep incline, or pulling a house off it's foundation without touching the accelerator.
You'll never need to slip the clutch to get rolling with one of these trannys.
my 86 chevy 1ton dump 5.7 had a three speed with a creeper gear and all though i hardly used it the when i did it was great. where i used to dump all my grass clippings etc. was kinda deep in the woods and i'd have to pull my 14ft trailor threw it. well when the dirt road was muddy from the rain i'd use the creeper gear to get along and it was awsome. it was like having low end touque in a gasser! and i never needed the clutch for it either
Awesome, Thanks a bunch. I did notice it was excruciating low geared when i started it in L ... should come in handy when pulling my rock crawler though
