Hey guys I tried searching, but could not find anything for the 5.4
I'm installing new head gaskets in my 2000 expy with 187,000 miles on it.
does anybody have pictures for this installation?
I need to know what teeth does the chain go into.
At the opposite ends of each timing chain is a discolored link (usually copper). These discolored links go adjacent to the the timing mark on each sprocket.
okay yes there is 3 discolored links one alone the other two together.
which side of the chain goes on the head?
And is there a special tool to help you hold the chain in place.

on a 5.4L/6.8L, the single marked link lines up wit the crankshaft sprocket's mark. The 2 links that are side-by-side is where the camshaft sprocket timing mark lines up in the center of the two links.
