Yes, you most certainly do, and I have yet to beat Ford Credit's financing if you have good credit. I've never been able to beat 0%...I'd like to though....lol

Ford Credit is a huge PITA though. They are very picky, and they set their own standards for deals that can make a bank look downright generous at times.

I had their 0% on my 2006 FX4...awesome

I was pre-approved from them to buy a new F-150 for the last 3 weeks. Thought I had finally reached a deal and Ford Credit comes back with 10% or some crap. I walked.

Went to my Credit Union I've been with for 9 yrs and they gave me 4.9% for the same amount financed. In the meantime the deal on the F-150 fell through. I now have the Bullitt in my signature.

No regrets though. The F-150 was almost $5,000 over what I wanted to pay overall.

That's a great point. You'll never beat 0% but to go in there with your own financing and then be offered even better Ford credit is outstanding!

True, FC only offers the 0% when they are closing out a model year usually...I've never financed for over 3.9% with FC though.

Tylus, are you saying FC tried to up their finance rate after agreeing on something different initially? I'd walk too, and would never use them again if they did that to me.

I ALWAYS get pre-approved before stepping foot in a dealership though, and I've never had a dealership beat what I'm already approved for. I don't know if that's good or bad

OK, don't flame me on this one.....but I have a question.

I am looking around for a new F-150. I am using my insurance (USAA) buying service and I am going to use the same dealer that sold me the F-150 as well as five other Fords. Looking online as well as discussing with the internet sales manager they have a truck that is close to what I want on the lot.

What I want is a Platinum with the following (this is the 09 Pricing)
Dark Blue
AM/FM STEREO W/SONY 6-DISC IN-DASH CD & MP3 CHANGER (58B)
NAVIGATION SYSTEM W/IN-DASH SCREEN (58N)
3.55 AXLE RATIO W/LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL (XH9)
MSRP - $45,050
Invoice - $40,888
Member Price - $39,388

What they have on the lot is the following:
Larite White
(435) Power Sliding Rear Window w/Privacy Tint
(43M) 1 Touch Open/Close Power Moonroof
(53M) Max Trailer Tow Package
Includes upgraded rear bumper, class IV trailer hitch receiver, 7-pin wiring harness, heavy duty front eye bushing and 20:1 steering gear.
(54X) Power Glass Trailer Tow Side Mirrors w/Chrome
Includes manual telescoping, heat, memory, turn signal, puddle lamps and chrome skull caps.
(58N) Radio: Navigation/InDash Screen/Sony Single DVD/CD
Includes MP3, DVD-audio, DVD-video capability, internal hard disk drive for map and POI storage, 10 gigabyte music jukebox, support for SYNC and other multi-media devices including auxiliary audio input jack, subwoofer, speed compensated volume control, steering wheel mounted audio and navigation controls, and self-dimming rearview mirror with microphone.
(61L) Lariat Plus Package
(63S) Pickup Box Access Steps
(63T) Tailgate Step
(64X) Wheels: 20 Chrome Clad Aluminum
(67T) Trailer Brake Controller
(86L) Lariat Chrome Package
(H) Leather-Trimmed Captain's Chairs
Includes heat, 10-way power driver and passenger seats and memory driver seat.
(XB6) Limited Slip w/3.73 Axle Ratio
Internet Price - $42,919

Questions would be
1. Which would you choose?
2. How much bartering power do you have when they order it for you?
3. Would it be better to go with what is on the lot vs have them build one (2010) and order it for me?

Thanks and I put on my asbestos underwear.

Scot,

I think you should compare the internet price to the USAA buyer's service price, (no guarrantees) and I believe you'll come out better with the internet price. I'm also a member of USAA but usually the internet price is better.

If this is a "gotta" have, then get the '09. If your willing to wait, then order one. Just remember, dealer stock carries the best incentives.

I am using the USAA as a jumping off point and going from there. The salesman stated that the USAA discount would be the best one they will offer as they get a lot of sales from USAA and want to keep them happy.

By any chance did you use the USAA buying service?

Thanks for the information and that is what I was thinking. It seems as the one on the lot has a lot of stuff and when I built it on USAA its member price was $38,500.

Thanks for the information and advice.

My daughter used it in Illinios when she bought her 2006 Fusion a couple of months ago. I pushed her in the direction of USAA becuase she's only 21 yrs old and has no car buying experience. I was afraid that a dealer may take advantage of her otherwise. It's a great service and an awesome company, I've been a member for 11 years now.

The USAA price as you say is a great place to start, however, if you can negotiate a better price then I would urge you to do so especially if your going after the '09 Plat.

OK, that is what I was thinking also. I just checked their inventory and they have 52 F-150 SC on their lot.

I am also going to get my wife a Mustang GT for Christmas/Birthday/Anniversary, so I have some barter power there also.

Sounds pretty good, but for that price, I'd rather get a fully loaded XLT w/ 4wd. But thats just me.

It is a Platinum, so it has pretty much everything. I also built up a Lariat and an XLT and they cost more than the Platinum. As for 4X4, I really have never need it and do not see needing it in the near future. As an economic statement, I would just be pushing an extra drive train and a transfer case.

And miss all the goodies included in the truck that he would use 100% of the time for something he would use less than 1% of the time? No thanks.

That truck is at Earnhardt Ford isn't it? According to the X-Plan website, you were offered a price $700 below X-Plan (including the $1000 for financing through Ford Credit).
