Hi guys. I am in the process of blocking out my ranger and need a little advice. There is a factory textured finish on the rocker panels and bottom few inches of the bed. I'm having trouble sanding down into the pits of this texture. I've tried a soft block, loose sandpaper, and a red Scotchbrite pad with limited success. I would really like to keep this texture, but need some advice on how to properly sand it. If it makes any difference, I'm painting with a urethane primer and Hot Rod Flatz paint. I just want to get this done right, so I don't have to deal with peeling paint. Any tips you might have would be appreciated.
That texture you are refering to is a chip guard product. You can just sand it down, then buy some new stuff and apply before painting. It comes in a spray bomb. Thats if you want the texture back. If not, I would just sand till smooth, then paint over it.
