I have a 95 Bronco 351 V8 w/E40D. I had a problem with transmission pan gasket leak. I removed the pan and the cork gasket and used a rubber gasket and new filter. Well, I kept having a small leak from the same are as before. My thought was maybe the pan was warped slightly and not sealing. I ordered an after market Derale pan and installed it using their gasket. It is a harder paper/fiber gasket, not cork or rubber. Well. it still leaks in the same spot but it is worse now than ever. It is leaking out of a bolt on the front of the pan next to the exhaust. My question is this, has anyone else had this happen and how did they fix it. My idea is to remove that one bolt where the leak is and put a rubber o ring around and tighten it that way it will seal the bolt head to the pan and the hole. The one thing I noticed is the size of the holes on the transmission pans-- the factory and the Derale. They are a lot larger than the small bolt. Any idea or how did you fix it. Thanks.
Bolt with a larger head along with your O-ring idea would seem to be quite effective. Sounds like you may have some threads in the hole in the pan that are questionable.
Figured out what it was today. The hole in the pan was not centered on the flange so when the bolt was tighten down it hit the crease and cracked. New pan is on it's way from Summit. This will be number 3, the first on had bad weld where the tubes are and now this one had a bad forming. Summit says they will only replace it this last time. We will see about that if this 3rd one is bad.
Sounds like Summit will be providing an alternate product if the same product continues to be defective upon delivery. Glad you found the source of the problem.
