Ok, My dummy light came on and it read "engine temp" So I check the gauge.. yep getting warm. So I slow down from doing 80mph to about 65 and it cools down. Its about 90 degrees out. I wasn't hauling a load. But pump is turned up a bit. Any tricks to lower my temp other than replacing the radiator with an aftermarket?
The fan clutch should lock before the engine gets hot.
And given the size of the fan, you should be able to hear it and feel it when it locks.
A 94 250 4x4 is about as aerodynamic as a brick.
Between the turbo, and the piston cooling oil jets you are putting a lot of heat in the oil.
So the oil cooler transfers that heat to the coolant, then probably AC with the temps that high, you have a lot of heat to get rid of.
So if the fan clutch is not locking, you will see the coolant temp rise on hot days.
