Here's two pics. One of the turbo ON my truck now, and one of one I just scored on an auction site, in that order. Of course, if I have need for parts, I have parts, and I'll get a rebuild kit (don't know what kind of thrust collar/seal I need though; 1 piece carbon, 4 piece carbon, or dynamic). At any rate; here's where I am now.
Yes, that's the one. I never bothered to ask how they figured it had a bent shaft considering they never opened it up, but I'll have it all apart when it gets here, and take the good from one, add it to the good from the other along with a rebuild kit, and hopefully be good to go.
Well picture one is a disaster looking for a place to happen.
With the blades bent, I would not run it.
Remember turbo speeds are in the 100,000 RPM area when you stomp the fuel.
A bit of balance issue along with stress in the blades from bending, a turbo explosion is possible.
Yes, it has had me very worried. I've been limiting the use of the truck, and since I haven't gotten the new parts yet, I won't be doing my first sled hookup tomorrow. I'd rather have the truck than say I pulled 13 feet and then my turbo exploded. I do however, have to haul a light load Friday from Pgh. to Conneaut Lake Park area. Luckily, the Dodge I just redid the top end on is almost completely buttoned up, and I'll have time to work on mine next.
