We had this problem once, the Raid fogger insect killers took care of the problem quick.
..................just remember to remove any fish tanks from the house, when you set em' off.

Well having 2 cats and 2 dogs, that all get frontline every 3 weeks, we seem to have a flea issue about once a year.
When we notice fleas in the house we do the following, vacum every day for a week(end of the week toss vacum bag). We also use a spray called De Flea, we spray around the base boards, under/on the couches, etc, during heavy flea season we do this every 3 days, rest of the year just once every week or 2. Also use the spray on the animal beds, and even on the pet themselves. Sounds like a lot but doing it regularly seems to work for us. Good luck

We had a similar issue with our two dogs.(Mini Shcnauzer and a Lab) We took the mini to get its "hair cut" and it brought back fleas. Its embarrassing to say but our house was covered in them. We got frontline for the dogs, and treated the house 3 times a day with a spray we got from Walmart that was made to be used on carpets and such. About 3 days later there were no signs of fleas.

Hey, I've actually got a great solution for that! If you go and vote for me, I'll tell you what it is.

Okay, I guess I can't do that.

Do the foggers, they will certainly help. However, you can also take a desk lamp (the more the better) and put them on the floor in different rooms in your house, mainly where you know most of them are. Take a pie pan and put it under each desk lamp and put some rubbing alcohol in it, enough for say a 1/4" deep. At night when you're ready to go to bed, turn off all the lights, and turn on the desk lamps. In the morning, you will wake up to dozens, even hundreds of them dead in the alcohol, depending on how bad your festation is.

Why does it work??

For some reason, those little annoying pests are attracted to the light. When you shut off all of the other lights in the house, they head towards the desk lamps. When they get around the desk lamps, they jump towards it... bounce off and fall into the alcohol and die. I kid you not, this is a highly effective way of ridding yourself of fleas.

Okay, so if this works for you, will you vote for me (click the link in my sig!)??? I'm desperate, I want to keep up with those big trucks.

Stan

a week after the first treatment you must remember to treat the infected area again to kill the newly hatched fleas before they can lay more eggs. good luck.

When I have them I usually fog the house every week and vacuum everyday until a few weeks after I am no longer bothered by them. I use a bagless vacuum so I can dump it in the outside can daily.

A few years back a friends dog brought them into my house the Raid fogger was the only thing that worked. You have to repeat the fogging with a follow up treatment as modar had said.

We used to have a terrible flea problem until we tried Program. Its a pill you give the dog and when the fleas bite, it makes them unable to reproduce. Cycle is broken within two weeks. Dont know if there is a similar cat product.

We have an flea and tick problem in our area due to the weather and strays. I have been around animals my entire life and so I am no stranger to these issues.

Step one...go to vet get a Capstar and a Frontline. Capstar will kill the critters on them within and hour and continue killing for a bit. The FL is a topical that will kill the further beasties.

remember when using foggers that it is just that a fogger. Fog penetrates. Cereal boxes, loaves of bread, loose seals of refrigerators, everything you or your kids will touch will have fogger on it. You cannot avoid it. Same with sprays. So choose wisely.

With aquariums the fogger is pulled into tank through filter or will settle in water and you can see the results of pollution first hand as all your fish and water life will die or become gravely ill. Birds are highly susceptible to foggers even after house has been aired out.

Cedar beds are great for animals as cedar is natural flea repellent.

Once you have taken control of the fleas on your animals basic cleaning of house will keep the lil suckers at bay for the most part. you may also have to treat your yard but the chemicals are there to.

Dimateous earth is excellent for natural pest control and believe or not Fruit Fresh is a great flea repellent as well.

Best of luck to you and your furry friends
