Well just what i was hoping would not happen. I have been shopping for a used truck, did the Oasis report and everything else i could think of. Purchased a 2006 F-250 CC 4x4 PSD with 41,000 miles on it. Have owned it just 3 weeks today. The check engine light is on every since last Friday. I have a appointment tom morning with my local ford dealer. Now the light sometimes is not on and other times it is???
The truck still runs great. And i have now way of pulling any codes. Only thing i have done is removed the kitty, and added diesel kleen to the fuel just as i did my other truck. Do you think it could be from the diesel kleen? Maybe the previous owner never did this and it may of done something to the fuel system?
I did not think the diesel kleen would hurt anything, but i did not know for sure, being how sensitize sometimes these vehicles are these days.
I have an appointment with my local ford dealer Monday morning, I just hope it is nothing major. Yes it is an 2006 model with only 42000 miles on it, so i would guess it would be covered under the 5 year 100,000 warrenty, seems how it is the check engine light, correct?
If your counting on the factory warranty you better get the kitty back on. Ford and some dealers are really cracking down on mods esp. ones that violate fed and/or states emissions laws.
Your bumper-to-bumper warranty has expired. If you bought the truck BEFORE July 14, 2006 then you only have the 5 yr / 100k engine warranty. If you bought it after July 14th, then you have an extra warranty - PowerTrain Care extended warranty - until 5 yr / 60k.
You do not know if the problem will be covered by the engine warranty or not just because you got a CEL.
Absolutely. Unless you know your dealership, you take a big risk on mods if you expect warranty coverage. Ford does have to prove that the problem is related to the mod, but I have heard of some far fetched logic used to connect a mod to a problem. Who needs that kind of fight?
I will for sure have the cat on for my visit. Do you know if they will have a fit about a suspension lift?
I will find out in the morning what is wrong with it, and keep my fingers crossed.

-When was the truck sold to the original owner? If after July 14, 2006 - then you have a 5 yr / 100k PowertrainCare warranty.
Nad, yes I'm a little confused on that myself. I bought this truck used just 3 weeks ago? So how do i know when the original owner purchased the truck? I have the build date on the oasis, and the first time it was in the shop was August 16th 2005 and it had only 100 miles on it ( Just a Bubble in a tire) So i would say they purchased it in August, it does not take long to put 100 miles on a truck?

One says Before 14 July you have a 100K warranty, and the other one says After 14 July you have a 100K warranty. What does the date have to with it if either way you have a 100K warranty?
Well I'm back from the dealer, they came out and told me I had a vane sticking on the turbo and the turbo has to be taken off and cleaned. I left the truck because they said it had to cool down before they could work on it. Does that sound right? That the check engine light would come on for that? It seemed to run the same, but then I have only owned the truck for 3 weeks!

Hopefully this is more understandable.
The ENGINE warranty that we all have is 5 yr / 100k. It covers certain components, primarily the ENGINE (POWERTRAIN COMPONENTS NOT INCLUDED).
The complimentary warranty that I am talking about is a POWERTRAIN warranty. It gives you additional coverage (FOR FREE) up to 5 yrs or 60k miles - ON POWERTRAIN COMPONENTS NOT COVERED BY THE ENGINE WARRANTY. It was offered on 2006 models as a sales enhancing offer since 2007 models were going to come with that added warranty as a standard feature.

Usually you notice performance issues w/ a sticking turbo (and you may get a CEL). At least you got a turbo cleaning! Did you have to pay any deductible?
